Trees Donated to "Keep America Beautiful"

NOVEMBER 14, 2005 -- New Hanover County's "Keep America Beautiful" program got rid of some left over trees on Monday. Instead of throwing them away, they were given to teachers.

More than 300 trees went to New Hanover County teachers at Hugh MacRae Park. It's mandated the trees be planted on campus grounds.

The trees are left over from the 2004 Tree Festival. They were planted by kids that are part of the Juvenile Day Treatment Center in Downtown Raleigh.

This year's Tree Fest is being held at the Westfield Independence Mall on January 21 and 22. All the trees will be free, and each person can take home up to five trees.
