Exotic Aquatics Coming to NC Aquarium

NOVEMBER 8, 2005 -- You can see new guests at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher who aren't from this neck of the ocean.

Headlining the new exhibit called Exotic Aquatics are venomous sea snakes in a thousand gallon tank. Joining them are a lion fish, the ink-spewing and color-changing cuttlefish, as well as pacific reef fish who are swimming around a living reef.

This exhibit is a departure from the aquarium's tradition of only displaying North Carolina's coastal and freshwater species.

The aquarium has taken special precautions for staff members who handle those sea snakes. They've brought in an expensive anti-venom just in case.
