NOVEMBER 8, 2005 -- There is a verdict in the Robert Hewson murder trial. Hewson has been found guilty of killing his wife, Gail Tice Hewson, at her home in Landfall.
The jury deliberated for a few hours and came back with the verdict around 4:00pm. Hewson was found guilty of first degree murder, breaking a protective order and firing into an occupied building. He now faces life in prison without parole.
Hewson said in court, "The arm of justice has been broken here today. I served in the Marines. I was decorated in Korea. I can take any punishment this court gives me. It will be the worst, but I'm ready."
Gail Tice Hewson's friends and family have established a foundation to help insure no one has to be a victim of domestic violence. Her legacy will be a positive contribution to the community, as she was a positive influence on the people who were close to her.
