Road Near School to Become More Pedestrian Friendly

OCTOBER 20, 2005 -- A busy street near a local high school will soon be safer for students.

Back in August, WECT reported on how overgrown and littered the section of Shipyard Boulevard near Hoggard High School was. The Department of Transportation pledged to clean the area up, and now Senator Julia Boseman has secured state money to improve safety here.

About $95,000 will go towards making the area between the school and the busy right-of-way more pedestrian friendly.
