SEPTEMBER 27, 2005 -- North Carolina's Attorney General has a warning for people looking to purchase a car. Beware of vehicles flooded in Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Roy Cooper says dishonest dealers may try to disguise damaged cars.
Workers at Rippy Automotive in Wilmington pulled out a Hummer to show us what to look for in a damaged vehicle.
They say to check all electronics, warning lights, power seats, and cruise control. They also say to look for water stains on carpeting and upholstery.
Make sure you get a title and a vehicle history before you buy a car. If a car has been damaged, the title will have a section on it marked salvage or flood damaged.
