The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority announced it will be waiving late fees on water bills due Sept. 11 and will continue to do so until further notice.
If you previously signed up for automated draft services or automatic payments, these drafts will continue to occur on the date indicated on your bill. If you need to cancel the electronic payments, please call Customer Service at (910) 332-6550. It takes a couple of days for the cancellation request to be established between CFPUA and your bank.
CFPUA is also filling water tanks to ensure its three water systems are supplied during Hurricane Florence.
CFPUA said if water plants lose power, stations are located at 615 Ogden Park Drive and at Veterans Park near the entrance to the soccer fields.
"While we do not expect CFPUA customers to lose access to water, it is a possibility," CFPUA said in the release. "If this occurs, CFPUA is keeping our two water stations open for all of the community to use in the event it becomes necessary."
Officials with CFPUA have inspected the free water stations since Florence made landfall and both remain available for use.
CFPUA announced it will be waiving late fees on water bills due Sept. 11 through Sept. 25. Those bills will be due by close of business on Sept. 26.
