Local first responders to honor fallen Tuesday on 17th anniversary of 9/11 attacks

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Local fire and police departments plan to observe September 11th, 17 years after the fatal terror attacks in New York City.

Wilmington Fire Department will hold a ceremony Tuesday morning from 8:30 until 9:30. It will take place at Empie Park Fire Station on Park Avenue.

Later in the morning, the Wrightsville Beach Fire Department and Police Department are sponsoring a community 9/11 observance. Starting at 10 a.m., firefighters and police officers will perform a short ceremony to honor those who lost their lives that day.

The community is invited to attend both events.
