WPD looking for Leland woman accused of backing into vehicle then fleeing scene

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Wilmington Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a Leland woman accused of a hit-and-run in a shopping center parking lot.

Gertha Johnson Harlee, 58, allegedly backed into a vehicle in the parking lot of Hanover Center on Oleander Drive shortly after 3 p.m. on Aug. 8.

Witness told police that Harlee had children in her car at the time and left the scene scene without stopping despite being flagged down.

Harlee has been charged with hit-and-run leaving the scene with property damage, no liability and failure to see before backing.
