COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The Columbus County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a Tabor City couple's car was damaged in a shooting early Monday morning.

According to a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, deputies responded around 5:15 a.m. to the area of Peacock and Clyde Norris roads outside of Tabor City after receiving a report about shots fired.

The victims told deputies that they were driving down the road when they encountered a man standing in the roadway.

After passing the man, they heard gunshots hitting their vehicle.

The spokeswoman said the victims' car was hit multiple times but they weren't injured in the shooting.

No arrests have been made and no suspect information was provided.
