WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A new restaurant has joined the downtown Wilmington scene located at 509 Castle St.
Rolled and Baked held an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday morning.
The restaurant offers locally sourced, scratch made food that specializes in the southern staple - biscuits.
The owners say they are "biscuits for the bold."
William and Annie Ward own and operate the restaurant. They say they strive to deliver "the southern cooking you all know and love with a twist that makes you come back for more."
"We are taking southern traditions, but adding different things and things and other aspects to that, and I think the unique taste is what we're looking for," said William. "We do have build your own biscuits, so if you want to be very traditional and southern about it, they're great."
They serve breakfast, brunch and lunch all day as well as curated wine, beer and artisan cocktails.
Annie said the restaurant has local, southern roots.
"We have been from eastern North Carolina for most of our married life, which is 36 years, and my husband and I have always loved Wilmington," said Annie. "Rolled and Baked is a team oriented place."
There is also a self-serve coffee and iced tea bar with homemade syrups in flavors such as hibiscus ginger and lemongrass.
