COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A Tabor City man has been arrested and changed in connection to a crime spree through the Carolinas that included the murder of a man in Longs and an armed robbery of a Chadbourn convenience store last week.
James Laverne Bellamy was arrested by the U.S. Marshals task force and the Horry County Police Department in Fair Bluff.
He has been charged with:
- two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
- three counts of kidnapping
- two counts of armed robbery
On Thursday, Chadbourn Police Chief Anthony Spivey said that Bellamy also has been served warrants for three more counts of armed robbery in relation to the Aug. 15 robbery of the Quick Mart.
The charges stem from the fatal shooting of a man in front of a Food Lion in Longs, S.C., on Aug. 15 and multiple robberies that happened afterward.
The suspects in that shooting then are believed to have robbed the Carolina Inn in the Loris area and committed a strong-armed robbery on Fox Bay Road.
