SUNSET BEACH, NC (WECT) - A person was seriously injured by a kite while at Sunset Beach Tuesday evening, according to the town's deputy fire chief.
Beach patrol and fire department personnel responded to a report of a traumatic injury on the beach strand near 32nd Street just before 5:10 p.m.
Deputy Fire Chief Richard Childres said the operator of a kite that is normally used for kite surfing struck a beachgoer in the head.
The victim was taken to the hospital with a possible severe neck injury.
The current status of the victim is unavailable at this time.
