HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach man on trial for sexually assaulting two young children pleaded guilty on Tuesday.
Panteleimon “Peter” Spirakis, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, criminal sexual conduct with a minor and engaging a child under 18 for sexual performance. An Horry County judge sentenced Spirakis to 20 years in prison with no parole.
"I just wanted to say that the damage to my grandchildren is very extensive. They've been in extreme counseling for three-and-a-half years and it is ongoing. I would like to see this man locked up for the balance of his natural life, so that he cannot harm other children like he harmed my grandchildren," said the victims' grandmother in court.
Lindsey Honeycutt, a co-defendant and witness in the case, also pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and two counts of unlawful conduct to a child. Honeycutt's sentencing will be held at a later date.
Ambrose Heavener and Anthony Strickland have also been charged in connection with the case.
According to arrest warrants, all four suspects reportedly engaged in sex acts - including intercourse - with the two 4-year-old victims between December 2014 and April 2015.
