WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A new program at New Hanover Regional Medical Center launched this week with a goal of fostering and creating ideas for improving health and wellness.
NHRMC's Innovation Center, which opened Monday, plans to foster collaboration between nurses, doctors and hospital administrators as well as community partners and thought leaders from various industries to increase awareness of health technology initiatives.
Chris Hillier, the Innovation Center executive director, was on WECT's News Now Friday afternoon to discuss the center's goals.
"It creates a hub, a central location where staff from all around can meet," Hillier said. "You'll have nurses, doctors, administrators all getting together to look at problems and come up with new ways to solve them.
"Without the Innovation Center, we've been doing an amazing job innovating NHRMC. With the Innovation Center, we're really gonna take it to another level. You can expect to see some really exciting things happening here in this space."
The Innovation Center is working in partnership with tekMountain, a technologically driven community of entrepreneurs and researchers in Wilmington.
