WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Delia Valenti Eveland is working to open Wilmington's first Cat Café.
The Scratching Post Café would serve coffee and be inhabited by furry friends who are available for adoption.
However, she's run into some trouble with zoning regulations.
The café must be zoned as a kennel under current rules.
She's working on a petition to get that changed.
She is holding a pop up event Sunday, Aug. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pet Supplies Plus on Carolina Beach Road and hopes to add signatures to her petition.
The event will include cats ready for adoption from Operation Topcat.
