'Madagascar Jr.: A Musical Adventure' opens at Scottish Rite Temple

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - An adaptation of the popular Broadway musical, Madagascar, opens Friday at the Scottish Rite Temple on South 17th St. in Wilmington starring local actors.

The play's first performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Additional performances will take place Saturday, August 11 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 12 at 2:30 p.m.

The play takes a journey out of the zoo and onto the stage with portrayals of characters from the popular Dreamworks blockbuster animated film Madagascar which later become a hit Broadway play.

The main characters are Alex, a lion, Marty, a Zebra, Melman, a giraffe, and Gloria, a hippo, and lots of penguins. All the animals escape from Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey into the world of King Julien's Madagascar.

The show is put on my Snow Productions and features local children ages 5 to 15.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children.
