NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Three public forums on New Hanover County school redistricting are scheduled for September in addition to the NHC Board of Education's redistricting work session set for Aug. 21.

Each public forum begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8.

Dates and locations are:
Sept. 13
Williston Middle School in Wilmington
Sept. 19
Holly Shelter Middle School in Castle Hayne
Sept. 26
Minnie Evans Art Center in Wilmington

The work session begins at 4 p.m. in the board of education center on South 13th Street. Although it is open to the community, public input will not be heard during the meeting.

The board will be discussing public comments received, analyzing demographics, and reviewing the proposed redistricting maps during the meeting.

For parents unable to attend the work session, it will be videotaped by NHCS-TV and may be viewed at a later time.

Middle school redistricting maps were released in July and high school redistricting changes are expected to go into effect for the 2019-20 school year. Elementary school plans won't be put into place until the 2020-21 school year.
