WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - A man is turning his drive to get the beaches clean into a passion of making some pieces of art while beautifying the Wrightsville Beach community.

Jazz Undy is saving the planet one painting at a time using his art called Ocean detox. He says the increasing use of plastics in our society is just overwhelming.

To make his voice heard, he's taking items from around the Wrightsville beach community that people tend to just toss out and is transforming them into 3-D art paintings and sculptures.

Some of his art include palm trees out of bottle caps and bottles he gets from bars across the street, water bottles, styrofoam and anything else that doesn't need to be in the ocean or on the beach.

He understands not everyone recycles, but he wants to lead an example to show people that its at least possible.

"Recycling is such a pain in the butt, I know, I get it," said Undy. "You know when you have to go and separate stuff it's not easy. I mean here you have to go take it to the center of the town. It's not the easiest thing to do.

"But it's a commitment I've chosen because you lead by example. People see you doing it and they're like, 'You know what I feel a little guilty I'm gonna do it.'"
