Marijuana goes Up in Smoke in Duplin County

SEPTEMBER 20, 2005 -- The search is on for the growers responsible for a marijuana farm in Duplin County, but much of the evidence against them has gone up in smoke.

Sheriff's Deputies seized thousands of marijuana plants worth as much as $10 million.

It's one of the largest pot seizures in state history.

The plants were found on a tree farm off Old Camp Road outside of Wallace.

The sheriff's office burned the 42-hundred pounds of pot at a secret location on Monday.

The deputies say they have several leads about the identity of the growers but so far no arrests.
