High Fuel Prices Cause Ferry Trip Cutbacks

SEPTEMBER 20, 2005 -- The Fort Fisher and Southport Ferry is scaling back service because of the fuel crunch.

Two daily departures have been cancelled. The 10:45 trips in the morning in both directions as well as the 12:15 trips from both Southport and Fort Fisher have been cancelled.

The North Carolina Ferry Service says the high cost of fuel has forced the cutbacks. The decision means mid-day ferry customers will have to choose from departures at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m.
