The contract for New Hanover County Schools Superintendent Tim Markley has been extended by a year.
The New Hanover County Board of Education approved the addendum during its meeting Tuesday.
Markley's contract now runs through June 30, 2022.
There is no raise in salary associated to this new addendum, but annual pay increases for Markley were approved by the board in June 2017.
Markley will get a $5,000 increase in pay for the 2018-19 school year, raising his annual salary to $210,000.
He will get additional $5,000 raises on July 1, 2019 and 2020.
Markley scored mostly high marks on his evaluation. In the 29 categories he was graded in, Markley scored a 4.0 or better (on a five-point scale) in 25 of them.
His only score under 3.9 was a 3.4 in "ensures that staff evaluations are conducted with an emphasis on improvement and disciplinary action taken when needed."
