NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The draft redistricting plan for New Hanover County middle schools is expected to be released at the school board's July 18 workshop, board members decided during their meeting on Tuesday.
The board is expected to vote on both the middle and the previously-released high school plans in October. Both maps are set to go into effect in the 2019-20 school year.
The high school plan, which has been available to the public since January, would move more than 700 students to new high schools.
Also discussed on Tuesday was an updated timeline for elementary school redistricting. Though previously expected in January 2019, the release of the draft proposal for elementary schools has been pushed back to April 2019, according to a district spokesperson.
However, the board is still expected to vote on the plan in August of that year, and it is still set to go into effect in the 2020-21 school year.
