SANFORD, NC (WNCN) - One person was killed and six others were injured in a shooting that followed a birthday party in Sanford early Sunday, authorities say.
The birthday party was being held at the Sanford Latin Dance Studio on South Steele Street.
Around 2:15 a.m., authorities say the partygoers made their way into the street and a fight broke out that led to the shooting.
Travis Jamarian Mclean, 27, of Sanford suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at Central Carolina Hospital.
Two women and four other men -- between the ages of 24 to 41 -- each sustained a gunshot wound to either the hand, arm, leg or foot, authorities say. One man was hit in both legs.
They were transported to the hospital by personal vehicles before emergency medics arrived.
No suspect has been named in the shooting.
