The UNCW men’s tennis team’s incoming recruiting class is one of the best in country, according to TennisRecruiting.net.
The website ranks the Seahawks sixth overall among mid-major programs.
The rankings include only schools outside the power five conferences. Central Florida, South Florida, Middle Tennessee State, ASA (Miami) and Tulsa are the only program ranked ahead of UNCW.
Seahawks coach Mait DuBois said he believes UNCW’s location and winning tradition helped the Seahawks on the recruiting trail.
"Every player that I have had has graduated with a conference championship,” said DuBois. “Playing in NCAA tournaments and playing with the best players is a huge draw. Wilmington recruits itself as well, so you put those two things together and we can attract a lot of players."
UNCW is the two-time defending Colonial Athletic Association tournament champions, and has won seven titles in DuBois’ 12 years with the Seahawks.
The recruiting class for the Seahawks includes Bruno Caula (Cordoba, Argentina), Dillon Gooch (Charlotte), Cole Groetsch (Chalfont, Pa.) and Davide Innocenti (Florence, Italy).
