UNCW baseball players Austin Easter and Mason Berne were selected in the Major League Baseball draft on Wednesday.
The Toronto Blue Jays selected Easter, a senior relief pitcher, in the 31st round with overall pick 926. Easter was 4-2 with a 3.05 earned run average this season.
One round later, the Atlanta Braves drafted Berne, a senior first baseman, with overall pick 982. The Topsail High School product led the Seahawks with a .347 batting average and was second on the team with 12 home runs this season.
A school record-tying six Seahawks were selected in the MLB draft, matching marks set in 2006 and 2017.
