Three UNCW baseball pitchers were selected in the Major League Baseball draft on Tuesday.
Austin Warren, Alex Royalty and Clark Cota were drafted, bringing UNCW’s total draft picks to four in the first 10 rounds.
Warren was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the sixth round with the 181st pick. As a senior, Warren posed an 8-0 record with a 1.75 earned run average.
The Cleveland Indians took Royalty in the eighth round with the 253rd pick. The junior went 6-6, and never missed a start in three seasons.
Cota was taken by the Oakland Athletics in the 10th round. As a junior, Cota led the Seahawks with a UNCW single-season record-tying 13 saves while posting a 4-0 record.
Warren, Royalty and Cota joined catcher Ryan Jeffers as Seahawks drafted this season. Since 2014, UNCW has had 23 players drafted.
