SEPTEMBER 11, 2005 -- Several local media outlets gathered at Mayfaire Town Center on Sunday for an event called "Wilmington Unites."
The event was set up as a disaster relief fund to help raise money for hurricane victims.
Hundreds of people showed up to support their favorite TV and radio stations, donating thousands of dollars.
All the money raised goes to the Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.
At last check, organizers were still busy counting the donations. They said several people stopped by to give $100 or more. One person even decided to give $1,000 to the cause.
