Duplin County Officer Shot in the Line of Duty

SEPTEMBER 11, 2005 -- An officer was shot in Duplin County late Saturday night.

Authorities are searching for Tyrone Williams after they say he shot Rose Hill Police Officer, Mitchell Anderson.

Williams is said to be armed and dangerous. Authorities tell us Anderson was shot while responding to a domestic dispute on Pope Road near Rose Hill around 10:30 Saturday night.

Crews used helicopters to search for Williams Saturday night through Sunday morning.

Officer Anderson is 35-years-old, from Rocky Point, and married with three children.

At last check, Anderson's condition was not life threatening.

A reward is being offered for information leading to Williams' arrest and conviction. If you have any information, please call the Duplin County Sheriff's Office.
