Biotechnology Center will Bring Jobs to Wilmington

SEPTEMBER 09, 2005 -- A biotechnology center is on the way to Wilmington and with it, the potential for new jobs.

Mayor Spence Broadhurst and other city leaders made the announcement at City Hall on Friday.

The North Carolina Biotechnology center is a private, non-profit corporation. It's expected to open in October.

There will be a job opening for a director and an assistant. However, Mayor Broadhurst said the center has the potential to lure many more high-paying jobs to Wilmington.

The Raleigh based bio tech center is also opening a satellite office in Greenville.
