Plans recently were submitted to city officials for a large apartment and commercial complex on Kerr Avenue in Wilmington.
Kerr Station Lofts would be built at the corner of Kerr and Franklin avenues.
According to the submitted plans, the multi-building complex would include 139 residential units.
There will also be about 5,000-square feet of commercial space that would run along Kerr Avenue that likely will include space for a coffee/sandwich shop and office space.
Along with one-, two and four-bedroom apartments, Kerr Station Lofts will feature 19 four-bedroom townhomes which will face Franklin and Avenue and Jacksonville Street.
Plans also call for an 8,000-square-foot club house and amenity center and more than 400 parking spaces.
"We are excited to develop this much-needed, best-in-class living/learning community, uniquely located next to an abundance of retail," said developer Andrew Weddle. "Kerr Station Lofts residents can easily and safely walk to the grocery store, pharmacy, movie theater and a variety of restaurants. Also, with the city’s vast improvements to Kerr Avenue and Randall Parkway (which include the multiuse and bike paths), our residents can now safely bike to/from UNCW in less than six minutes."
The city's Technical Review Committee is expected to consider the plans during its June 14 meeting.
