LA GRANGE — Whiteville High School is headed to its fifth consecutive baseball state championship series.

The Wolfpack beat North Lenoir 4-1 on Friday night to win the 2A East finals and earn a spot in the state finals for the sixth time in the last seven seasons. The top-seeded 'Pack (27-1) will play 10th-seed Ledford (28-3) for the state title starting June 1.

Whiteville led 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning Friday when a hit by Will Hinson drove in Lincoln Ransom to make it 2-0.

After North Lenoir trimmed the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Dylan Lawson scored on a Hawks error to give the 'Pack a 3-1 lead.

With North Lenoir down to its final out, Wolfpack pitcher Brooks Baldwin got Dylan Meyer to ground out to second base to end it.
