Basketball coach Kevin Keatts and football coach Dave Doeren headlined the N.C. State Wolfpack Caravan’s stop at the Cape Fear Country Club on Thursday.
Keatts hit the ground running when he got to Raleigh, turning the Wolfpack program around like he did when he was the coach at UNCW.
“We were picked 12th. We ended up finishing third,” said Keatts. “We won 11 conference games and 21 overall.”
UNCW took a step back after Keatts left for Raleigh, but the former Seahawks leader said he believes UNCW coach C.B. McGrath has the program moving in the right direction.
"C.B. will do a great job,” said Keatts. “As a coach, you have to get your own guys in and have the guys buy into your system, and I am confident that it will happen.”
Keatts said he was open to having the Wolfpack and Seahawks play, but said the game would need to be played in Raleigh.
