WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Brigade Boys and Girls Club in Wilmington got a makeover for National Painting Week courtesy of the folks from Sherwin-Williams on Thursday.

They painted four locker rooms, bathrooms, the gym and some of the inside doors.

More than 40 gallons of paint and supplies were donated to help more than a dozen associates paint the complex on Vance Street.

Willie Gurganus, a Sherwin-Williams store manager in Wilmington, says it was more than a paint job.

"The best part about it is we're in the stores all the time talking about paint, recommending what to do in certain situations, how to fix things and what better time to get actually get out there and do it when you can give back to a community or give back to people that need it," Gurganus said.

He also hopes this makes kids strive for what they believe in.

"Hopefully they recognize it and see what some good efforts and work can do," Gurganus said. "People can get out there and try to help motivate them to do some positive things in their life, but the main thing is just to give them a comfortable place to hang out and a nice place to do it."
