WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

ESPN Films and Netflix have teamed up to produce a 10-part series that will chronicle Basketball Hall of Famer and Laney High School graduate Michael Jordan.

Jordan is arguably one of the greatest icons and most successful dynasties in sports history. The documentary will focus on his time with the 1990s Chicago Bulls team and examine the rise of Jordan and the NBA during those years.

According to ESPN, "The Last Dance" will use more than 500 hours of footage that has never been seen from the team's last championship run in the 1997-98 season.

Directed by Jason Hehir and produced by Mike Tollin, the anthology is expected to be released in 2019.

After graduating from Laney, Jordan played for the UNC Tar Heels before his legendary NBA career.
