Hours of hard work paid off for Cape Fear Academy basketball player Grant Reed.
With family and friends on hand Friday, the senior signed his letter of intent to play at Trinity University in San Antonio.
“It means a lot. I love all these people here with my whole heart,” said Reed. “I am just happy they could be here and enjoy it with me."
Reed, who was a four-year starter for the Hurricanes, is one of four players in program history to score 1,000 career points.
"I used to be not that good when I was younger,” said Reed. “I was really skinny, but I put a lot of hours in the gym. Coaches helped me, friends, family, but it all worked out it with me."
Reed was a three-year captain, and was twice named to the all-conference team.
