It was a battle on the hardwood between students and faculty at the ninth annual Laney Slam Jam on Thursday in the Laney High School sports complex.
Slam Jam is run by students in the sports/entertainment marketing II class.
This year’s goal was to prevent school violence by creating unity and belonging in school.
"Through their research, they learned that those issues really happen because of the lack of inclusion, bullying, mental issues,” said Laney teacher Jeremy Lewis. “So we felt like we wanted to create an event that was going to create camaraderie and unity for the school."
The students ended a two-game losing streak beating the faculty 55-44.
