WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Freshman Anna Knox helped gift the UNCW softball team a 3-0 win over Delaware on her birthday with a home run Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks split the Saturday doubleheader against the Blue Hens at Boseman Field.

In game one, UNCW fell behind 2-1 but kept the game close thanks to a sacrifice fly from Lacey Fox. Delaware's Mariah Kondravy blasted a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to secure a 5-1 victory for the Blue Hens.

In game two, Knox drove in two runs, including the second inning solo shot, to pace the Seahawks (16-26, 6-11 CAA). Senior Sara Davis improved to 4-7 on the year and completed the shutout with five strikeouts and no walks.

The three-game series wraps up Sunday at noon. The series finale also serves as the Seahawks' annual "Strike Out Cancer" contest.
