WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington police are searching for a person suspected in a hit-and-run incident that left a man with a shattered prosthetic leg.

According to a Wilmington Police Department news release, a 20-year-old Wilmington man suffered an arm and hip injury in addition to having his prosthetic leg broken on March 14 near Greenfield Grind Skate Park.

The victim and a friend were leaving the skate park at South Third and Park streets and while the victim was attempting to do an ollie — a skateboard trick — over a pothole, the suspect hit the victim with their car. When the suspect braked abruptly, the victim rolled off the front of the vehicle and the suspect then sped up, running over the victim's right arm and right leg while destroying the prosthetic leg.

The victim's friend said the suspect, described as a man in his late 30s or early 40s with a tan complexion and dark, medium length hair, was driving a mid-2000s red Mazda 3 or 6.
