WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

The UNCW men’s basketball team has landed Valparaiso transfer Marten Linssen.

The 6-foot-8 Linssen must sit out the 2018-19 season per NCAA rules, but will have three years of eligibility remaining at UNCW.

As a freshman last season, Linssen played in 22 games for the Crusaders. Coming off the bench, he averaged 2 points and 2 rebounds per game.

Linssen said he didn’t know if he would enroll in summer classes at UNCW.

“I am not sure when I’ll start,” said Linssen. “I might have an opportunity to play for the German national team over the summer."

Linssen is the second transfer to join the Seahawks in April. Shawn O’Connell is transferring in from Georgia Southern.
