WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - In the wake of a Sunday night cold front and its attendant line of gusty showers and storms, a high pressure system will deliver cool weather for Monday and Tuesday. Expect a warmer Wednesday and Thursday and another cool-down for Friday and the weekend. Signs of a wet weather pattern exist for next week but dryness ought to be the rule through this weekend.
MONDAY FORECAST DETAILS: A few banks of clouds may scurry across the sky at times and some of these may even contain a rogue, fleeting sprinkle or shower. Otherwise, enjoy generous intervals and periods of sunshine. Temperatures will crest in the cool and brisk 60s amid emphatic west winds of mainly 10 to 20 mph - and frequent gusts over 20 mph.
LONGER-RANGE FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS: Tuesday is likely to be sunny and crisp with daybreak temperatures in the 30s and 40s and afternoon highs in the 60s to around 70. Under continued bright skies, Wednesday and Thursday will feature highs in the deep 70s to locally, on the mainland, 80s. Friday and the weekend will have cooler daytimes in the 60s to lower 70s.
