WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - It was a day more than four years in the making for a quartet of student-athletes at Coastal Christian High School on Thursday.
The four signed national letters of intent with the schools of their choice.
Michael Parker was a four-year starter for the Centurions basketball team and is headed to Salisbury University.
"I have been waiting for this day for about four years now," said Park. "All the work I have put in and chasing this goal, it's all paying off and I am very grateful."
Samantha Stanko, who battled injuries her senior year, signed to play volleyball at Presbyterian College.
"I am so excited," said Stanko. "I can't say that I would want it to happen any other way because I think it humbled me a lot to have an injury. Just starting out thinking that I wouldn't be able to play."
Sallie Newton holds almost every goaltending record at the school and is off to Georgia Southern to play soccer.
"It just feels amazing to pursue the sport that I love and continue to play it in college," said Newton.
Baseball player David Pierson signed with St. Andrews University.
