No. 12 Pirates edge Seahawks in Greenville

GREENVILLE, NC (WECT) - A four-run second inning helped lead No. 12 East Carolina to a 6-4 victory over UNCW on Tuesday.

Jake Washer and Connor Litton each hit home runs for the Pirates (21-6), who played error-free baseball.

Zack Canada and Mason Berne each went deep for the Seahawks (19-9), who scored two runs in the top of the seventh to cut ECU's lead to 5-4 before the Pirates tacked on a run in the bottom of the eighth.

UNCW starter Breydan Gorham (0-3) took the loss, giving up four runs on five hits in two innings.

East Carolina reliever Alec Burleson (2-0) earned the victory despite allowing two runs on four hits in his two innings of work. Ryan Ross earned his third save for the Pirates.

The Seahawks return home for a three-game series against Wofford beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
