AUGUST 30, 2005 -- Tuesday's vote for a North Carolina lottery will have a dramatic impact on the cluster of convenience stores that crowd the state border with South Carolina.
North Carolina lottery players have had to drive south of the border to towns like Little River.
The stores in South Carolina report about 80 percent of their lottery ticket sales are to North Carolina residents.
North Carolina residents say they are glad they will no longer have to take their money out of state.
However, the stores to our south still have an ace up their sleeve. South Carolina participates in the powerball drawings which likely will offer larger prizes than the North Carolina games.
