WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Cape Fear Roller Girls kick off their 2018 season with a home bout against the Carolina Hurticanes.

The CFRG are an all women's flat-track roller derby league and non-profit organization. According to the league's website, CFRG is dedicated to the development of amateur athletes and all players are actively involved in community development.

Their first home bout is Saturday, March 31, at Jellybeans Family Skating Center in Wilmington.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the CFRG hit the track at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and children under 6 are free.

Proceeds from the bout will benefit the Women's Build for Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity, a project that aims to provide women in the community access to affordable homes. The home is funded and constructed primarily by women and serves to empower women to take leadership roles while learning new skills.
