Consider This: Starting the conversation is a move in the right direction

Hi, I’m Mark Mendenhall, new Vice President and General Manager here at WECT. While I am new in this position, I have been with WECT and lived in the Wilmington area for 16 years. I’m also a North Carolina native. My family and I have grown to love the Cape Fear Region and its many offerings and we understand the responsibilities that we share as a community to protect and grow this wonderful region.

While issues like clean drinking water, safe schools, and responsible management of our growth are top line items that will be addressed in these commentaries, I would also like to use this forum as a venue to highlight outstanding members and groups within our community. So many of our local heroes are unsung. We want to spend a few minutes recognizing those among us who make a positive difference.

My hope for these commentaries is to provoke thought and action on issues within our community, both positive and negative. While you may not always agree with the topic or approach, if we are starting a conversation, it’s a move in the right direction.

I invite you to share your thoughts on our topics and even submit possible topics for discussion at considerthis@wect.com.
