The UNCW men’s tennis team is not scared of hard work.
“We ride them hard, but they are all in and they love it” said Seahawk head coach Mait DuBois. “That’s what they are here for. They are not resisting, they are as passionate of a team we have ever had here.”
“Everyone is willing to work harder every week to keep improving” said Seahawk junior Agustin. “You can see that reflection in the results. Everyone is willing to push themselves a little harder every day.”
For Seahawk head coach Mait DuBois, it’s a work ethic he hasn’t seen before.
"This team more than any other team I have coach has gets better every week” said DuBois.
The Seahawks have become regular at the NCAA tournament, earning bids in six of the last nine years. Now the team just doesn’t want to make the tournament.
“Our goal is to do damage at the NCAA tournament” said DuBois, “and it has been since the first day and we are on track.
The Seahawks (13-2) have a huge home court advantage, they are undefeated at home this season, and look to stay that way for the first time since the 2012-2013 season.
“It’s the birdcage, it’s the birdcage. We love it here” said Agustin Savarino about their home court. “We have our people support. We feel comfortable here, the weather treats us well. We are us to the courts, we are us to the speed of the courts. I don’t know there is something special about playing in Wilmington.”
The Seahawks will close out their home schedule Apr. 14 against South Carolina State.
