The sixth-seeded Cape Fear Community College women’s basketball team couldn’t rebound from a slow start and lost to third-seed Highland 77-59 in the quarterfinals of the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament in Harrison, Ark., on Wednesday.
Berniezha Tidwell led Highland with 20 points as the Scotties jumped out to a 34-7 lead after the first quarter.
Ayonna Cotton had a team-high 13 points for Cape Fear (28-6), which committed 34 turnovers and had its 19-game winning streak come to an end.
The Sea Devils will play the Kirkwood-North Arkansas loser on Thursday at 4 p.m.
