The Cape Fear Community College men’s basketball team is making preparations for its upcoming trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament.
On Wednesday, the Sea Devils practiced in Trask Coliseum, the home of the UNCW Seahawks.
Trask is CFCC’s third home away from home this season. Cape Fear’s home court at the Schwartz Center is being renovated and the Sea Devils have practiced and played at Brogden Hall and Williston Middle School.
According to Sea Devil head coach Ryan Mantlo, not knowing where the next practice would be hasn’t been easy, but it has made his team stronger.
"Our secondary leadership is awesome,” said Mantlo. “Their ability to put things to the side, and start loving each other towards the end of the season was the difference in us getting there."
Cape Fear battles Hutchinson Community College on March 20 at 1 p.m. in Hutchinson, Kan., in the first round of the NJCAAs.
