WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Ohio State roughed up UNCW starter Nick Bruno, scoring five runs in the first two innings of an 8-1 victory over the Seahawks on Wednesday.

For the second consecutive day, UNCW committed four miscues at Brooks Field in a loss to Buckeyes, bringing the Seahawks' total to 35 errors this season.

Bruno took the loss after giving up five runs, four earned, in 1.2 innings pitched.

Jake Vance earned the victory for OSU, allowing one run on four hits in four innings.

Mason Berne was the only UNCW player with more than one hit Wednesday, finishing 3-for-4 and scoring the only Seahawks run. Cole Weiss had a double and an RBI for UNCW.

Leadoff man Dominic Canzone paced the Buckeyes' offense, going 3-for-5 with a double, home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.

The Seahawks return to Brooks Field for a three-game homestand against Quinnipiac starting Friday at 6 p.m.
