A woman who slammed her car into a Wilmington motel after fleeing the scene of another hit-and-run early Wednesday morning told officers she had smoked crack cocaine beforehand, according to police.
According to Wilmington Police Department officials, officers were dispatched to Wayne Drive for a hit-and-run.
A suspect fleeing the scene of that wreck then ran into the America's Best Inn and Suites at 30th and Market Street around 1:45 a.m.
The driver then fled the scene on foot before being located by officers.
She allegedly told officers that she was highly intoxicated and had smoked crack cocaine.
WPD officials said she blew a .1 in a breathalyzer test. The legal limit is N.C. is .08.

According to the motel's desk clerk, the car smashed into the back room where they store items behind the front desk -- only about 20 ft. from where she was sitting at the time of the crash.
“I had just finished checking a customer and was putting them in the computer when I heard the loud bang,” said the clerk. “Something had smashed into the building, so I immediately went to the phone and called 911.
“I heard the crash exactly at 1:45 and the police came at 1:46 so that was very prompt action."
